This week-long camp is held at the majestic Camp Decorah during the summer where members of Scouts BSA can work on advancement or merit badges. We have great programs for everyone, whether a first year Scout or an older Scout that is looking for something different.
First year Scouts can participate in our Brown Sea program, while other members of their Troop can work on merit badges in the many areas that Camp Decorah has. For the Scout that is at least 14 years of age, we have the Peak of Adventure!
During their 7 day 6 night stay at Camp Decorah, scouts can participate in events at our Shooting Range, Climbing Tower, Zip Line, C.O.P.E. course, pool, waterfront, handicraft, or outdoor skills areas. All of these activities are led by high-energy, trained Camp Decorah staff.
A four day, three night resident camp for Cub Scouts that will be a Tiger Scout, Wolf, Bear, or Webelo in the fall. Each group will work on rank advancements specific to their rank while having fun and enjoying everything that Camp Decorah has to offer. All meals are provided for this very affordable event that will be led by our Camp Decorah staff.
In August, five days of day camp awaits your Scout. Cub Scouts and sibings welcome, for 5 full, exciting days of camp activities, shooting sports, nature, swimming, and special guests. A themed camp full of fun. Options for single days, busing, siblings, and more. Your Scouts will talk you ear off with all they did that day until they fall asleep on the way home.
Every August, Webelos can attend a themed summer camp at Camp Decorah. The camp includes 3 full, exciting days of camp activities, shooting sports, nature, and swimming. Activities feature the core components of Cub Scout programs, and help Scouts to transition from Cub Scouts into Scouts BSA. New adventures and themes are created for the event every year.
National Youth Leadership Training is the pinnacle of Boy Scout training for youth. Every Troop deserves youth leaders that are trained and prepared for the responsibilities they face. The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what leaders must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the team goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership. A constant refrain of NYLT is “if you can see it, you can be it.”
Some of the skills in the course, in addition to leadership, are problem solving, making ethical decisions, valuing people and contributions, and many more.
Scale the 60-foot climbing tower, travel down the zip line, or conquer the obstacles at the C.O.P.E. course. All these activities will challenge each individual while they develop confidence in themselves and trust in others. These are not just available during sumemr camp, but all year long.
Have you ever wanted to be just like Davy Crockett or William Tell? Camp Decorah offers you the opportunity at our Shooting Range. You can shoot a bb gun, handgun, rifle shotgun or archery at our facilty many times during the year.
