Exploring is a unique career exploration program for all local area high school students.  The program provides students with an opportunity to learn about different career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields. Local professionals volunteer their time to provide youth these experiences.

**Each Post is Limited to only 20 Youth to provided the best experience. **

Ready to Join?

Next Steps: 

1. Fill out the Exploring Youth Application (under 17) or Exploring Adult Application (if 18, or turning 18 during program)

2. Fill out the program specific Waiver (available at first meeting or under each program tab) 

3. Pay Annual Dues - The current annual dues are $75 per participant per year which covers registration fee and liability insurance for the youth, the advisors, and the advising organizations. Assistance is available here just mention in the comments it is for exploring. Fee can be paid by cash or check anytime made out to BSA. Credit Cards will be accepted during the first meeting or at 2600 Quarry Road La Crosse during business hours. 

All applicants must be currently attending high school.

Health and Safety

A youth's Health and Safety is always an important part of the scouting program, the BSA has implemented a comprehensive program to protect youth.  Every registered leader receives a background check and is required to take and renew Youth Protection Training.

Law Enforcement Exploring combines some classroom training with ride-alongs in police vehicles, pistol shooting, community policing, and much more. You get to experience firsthand what it’s like to be an officer of the law.

The La Crosse Police Department hosts a program to explore careers in Law Enforcement that meets every other Monday from  6 – 8 pm, October through May each year (with some adjustments due to holidays).

  3. Fill out Law Enforcement Exploring Waiver
  4. Pay $75 annual fee by check or cash, or by credit card at first session. Scholarships are available for families in financial need. Assistance is available here just mention in the comments it is for exploring.   
  5. You will receive the Guidelines and Post Manual at the first meeting

The Explorer Program meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 5:00 – 7:00pm from October through May (except on Thanksgiving and week before Christmas).

Aviation Pilot Career Exploring combines exciting hands-on activities with aviation professionals. The La Crosse Regional Airport hosts a program that meets weekly from October - November!
