PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE

 

What? NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

 

When? 3/14/2026 8am-5pm (or until finished)

Where? Camp Decorah W7520 Council Bay Road Holmen WI

Cost? $100

 

Class will start at 8AM and will go till 5p or later. Lunch will be provided. This is the first step to becoming a Pistol Instructor and one part of many to become a Shooting Sports Director for a Scout Council if that is your goal. Upon completion of all requirements, you will receive your NRA Basic Pistol completed course Certificate. 

Firearms: The basic shooting qualification can be completed with any Caliber from .22 on up. The qualifying shoot will be conducted after the classroom segments are complete. You will be shooting 20 rounds at an 8-inch circle at a distance of 45 feet. 16 out of 20 rounds must land within a 6-inch circumference. It is recommended you bring a minimum of 300 rounds with you.

Pistol. All firearms and ammunition will be checked in and stored by course instructor

This is not a CCW class, but completion of this course may be used to obtain a Wisconsin CCW Permit.

 

NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation COURSE

 

What? NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation Course - This course is FREE and for anyone looking to be certified to run range activities for Cub Scouts. If you would like to help run Cub Scout Range Activities at any Council level event, this is the course to take!
