NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting August 22, 2026 

Student cost $100

This immersive, hands-on program covers essential safety rules, pistol operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, and basic maintenance in a supportive environment.

Whether you are a first-time gun buyer or looking to brush up on your skills, this class is designed for individuals with little to no previous firearms experience. It’s a perfect, non-threatening environment to learn at your own pace and get all your questions answered.

What You Will Learn

The course is a seamless blend of classroom learning and hands-on range practice. Key modules include:

  • Firearm Safety: Intensive instruction on the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling.
  • Pistol Mechanics: Nomenclature, operation, and differences between revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
  • Ammunition & Storage: How cartridges work and best practices for safe storage at home.
  • Marksmanship Fundamentals: Mastering grip, stance (e.g., Weaver, Isosceles), sight alignment, and trigger control.

What to Bring

You will need a few essentials for a great day on the firing line:

  • Eye and ear protection (We will Supply if needed)
  • Appropriate, closed-toe range attire
  • A pistol (revolver or semi-automatic) and roughly 100-200 rounds of factory ammunition. (Note: Instructors often have loaner firearms and ammo available if you don't have your own yet).

What You Earn

Upon successful completion of the course, you will take a nationally standardized exam and earn an official NRA Course Completion Certificate. In many states, this class or its certificate is the perfect stepping stone to fulfill the training requirements for a Concealed Carry License.

NRA Women on Target August 23, 2026

The NRA’s Women On Target® Instructional Shooting Clinics are hands-on, non-judgmental events exclusively for women to learn firearm safety and marksmanship. Whether a complete beginner or a refresher, participants enjoy a safe, supportive environment with one-on-one instruction and all necessary gear provided.

  • Zero Experience Needed: No prior knowledge or equipment is required; loaner firearms, ammunition, and eye/ear protection are provided.
