Description: Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts can participate in our first Pin Day to earn engineering themed Pins and have an opportunity to engage in nature themed activities with The Nature Place!

 

Scouts will first learn engineering and building skills through hands on experiences, problem solving, and working to design their own projects. 

 

Webelos will earn the Modular Design Pin: Some of your favorite building toys are probably modular. Learning to build using modular design is a good way to conserve resources. In this Adventure, you will gain an understanding of modular design, build using modular-based materials, and practice making directions for others to follow.

 

Arrow of Light Scouts will earn the Engineer Pin: Lots of people have great ideas: flying to the moon, tunneling under rivers, building robots that walk and talk, or making triple-loop rollercoasters. Engineers turn those ideas into reality. They use science, math, and creative thinking to improve people’s lives. In this Adventure, you will learn what engineers do. Even better, you can do some engineering projects of your own. So put on your thinking cap and get ready to think like an engineer!

 

After their building adventures, scouts will take a hike down to Myrick Park to visit The Nature Place! At The Nature Place, scouts will have an opportunity to meet live animals such as Foxy the Ornate Box turtle who is a endangered native turtle, Buddy the Kenyan Sand Boa, and many more! At the Nature Place, scouts can also explore other educational exhibits to learn about the local La Crosse River Marsh and explore the natural world through hands on activities.

Parents, while welcome to participate with their scouts, are not required to stay with them.

Refund Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we aim to accommodate our Scouts as best as possible. Please review our refund policy below: 

Participants who can no longer attend the event must notify the Scout Service center at gatewayareacouncilbsa@scouting.org prior to the event or will be held liable for the cost to attend. 

Requests received after this deadline will not be eligible for a refund, except in the case of verified extenuating circumstances (to be reviewed at our discretion).

All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the Scout Service Center.

Any refund granted may have a portion kept back to cover administration costs already incurred for the attendee.
